Welcome to the Middle Common Room ...

MCR PresidentWelcome to the St John’s College Middle Common Room! The Middle Common Room (helpfully abbreviated to MCR) is the postgraduate body in college. St John’s College is a glorious string of Georgian buildings next to Durham cathedral. It contains communal spaces for students, a library, and most importantly, a fabulous cellar bar!

As the postgraduate body in college, the MCR has a number of purposes. It acts to represent the interests of St John’s postgraduates. For example, over the past few years there have been steps taken to maintain a dedicated postgraduate work space in college for postgraduates. On top of this, being an MCR member means that you are entitled to the amazing range of activities and events for Johns students. All college sports are open to MCR members, along with balls and end of term formals. Most importantly though, the MCR is simply a way for postgraduates to meet and get to know each other.

Very Best,

Rosi
MCR President 2012-2013
