Rosi Jelfs
President
johnsmcr.president @durham.ac.uk
Hi! I’m Rosi, reading for an MA by Research in Modern German Literature. This is my fifth year as a student at St. John’s College, and although I live out of college this year I can often be found in the MCR, the library, or the bar. When I am not reading or in a meeting I try to do as much rowing as possible. As president my job is to represent the postgraduate community to the JCR, College, and beyond, so if you have any issues that need raising I am your first point of contact. I also head up this year’s lovely exec, and support them in their roles as much as possible. If you have any questions about postgraduate life at John’s, want to get involved, or have an issue that needs taking higher, please just get in touch.
Alice Kamolzoda
Vice President and Welfare Officer
johnsmcr.vp@durham.ac.uk
I am a first year PhD student at the School of Government and International Relations. When I am not studying in the library, you can find me organizing welfare activities and representing MCR at a number of college committees. I am also the point of contact in the MCR for any domestic issues. Apart from all that I enjoy taking photos, shooting, baking, travelling and long-distance walks.
Ben Groves
Treasurer
johnsmcr.treasurer@durham.ac.uk
My name is Ben and I am MCR treasurer, my main roles as treasurer is to facility membership, and ensure that our budget is fairly and sensibly spent for the benefit of all MCR members. I am studying for an MSW (Masters in Social Work). Since moving to Johns I have found my time outside of my course and exec is spent doing a variety of sports and having great conversations with the phenomenal people I have around me.
Helen Berryman
Secretary

I minute MCR meetings and make sure they are available to all of the members of the MCR. I get to handle most of the email traffic between members and the exec, keeping everyone up-to-date with what is happening in the MCR. I also liaise with the JCR comms officer so members access JCR information too. When not emailing, I can be found ‘working’ on biology or philosophy, baking, making tea or trying to mother someone. All of my activities involve a mug of tea!
Charlotte Hurst
Social Secretary
johnsmcr.social@durham.ac.uk
Hi, I'm Charlotte and I'm studying for an MSc by research in Biology. When I'm not lurking in the biology lab with my plants, I populate the MCR social calendar with events such as MCR formals, film & pizza nights, trips to the cinema and the Christmas party, to name but a few events! Please feel free to get in touch if you have any ideas for social events! :)
Matthias Fuchs
Chair
johnsmcr.chair@durham.ac.uk
As MCR Chair, I am responsible for the smooth running of MCR meetings and to ensure that exec’s behaviour is democratic and in order with our constitution. The chair does not automatically attend exec meetings, but I have been kindly invited to join the team in a non-voting capacity. Other than Chairing the MCR, I am doing a one-year masters degree in Developmental Psychopathology. When I am not working on academic issues, I enjoy rowing, spending time with friends and travelling.
